cotton with wool...

a new yarn has arrived at my favorite yarn store...

Geilsk
bomuld (cotton) og (and) uld (wool)

had to give it a try...

though I am making a hat as a sample,
I do think a sweater is in order!

this yarn seems to be ideal
for our coastal summers...
a lovely, light cotton fingering
tempered and warmed by the
magic that is
wool

milano...

getting ready to play with a new yarn...

...milano, from debbie bliss,
which arrived at the yarn shop yesterday...

it's a tweedy wool blend
that fascinates me

I think it will make a handsome man's hat,  when combined with karabella's aurora 8

now to find that size 8 circular...

this o-wool classic 2-ply has been sitting in my stash, waiting...

25 April 2012

fun with color...

i was not looking for these
seven skeins of blue and orange
bamboo yarn
when i last visited the yarn shop...

but there they sat in a lonely corner,
so colorful and soft,
gently calling my name...

and at 40% off...
how could i resist taking them home?

...now the fun begins

what are YOU knitting?

21 October 2010

score...

been lucky this week...

fiber-wise, that is...

yesterday i recieved the wonderful alpaca/merino/lurex yarn, pictured above...part of a ravelry swap...

then...

while in the local thrift store searching for costume items, i came across a large plastic zip-lock bag filled with alpaca yarn...enough for a sweater and in perfect condition...

the price?

five dollars
(about 3.50 euros)

sick!!!

(for those of you not "up" on the current american slang, that means "awesome", "cool" or "very good")

the question...should i knit something for him???

13 October 2010

j'adore...

...the site quince & co...

it seems perfect in every way...

the simplicity!  the colors!

i hope the yarns are every bit as scrumptious as they look...

i just ordered their color book

am eagerly anticipating its arrival

yarn lust...its a good thing...right?

20 February 2010

here, trilly, trilly, trilly, trilly!

Oxford grey cashmere and silk...seed stitch and stockinette...long body, long sleeves...This sweater--my own design--should be lovely...but I fear that I don't have enough of the gorgeous yarn that I am using....and, alas! it is discontinued!

Got Trilly?

Filatura di Crosa's Trilly
color 200073, lot 22734

you could be my new best friend...
