test knitters wanted...

ready for testing...

04 December 2013

my paulie...

The cold has returned, overnight, to the Mendocino coast...We have enjoyed an unusually warm and sunny autumn, but this morning we awoke to frost and ice...

wool weather!!!

As most knitters frantically work on finishing their holiday knitting, I decided to begin a sweater for myself.  Paulie has been in my Ravelry queue for several months, and though I rarely knit from patterns, this lovely design from by Isabell Kraemer really speaks to me. Garter stitch and stripes at a fine gauge...totally wearable and a good thing to knit during this busy, busy holiday season...

the yarn is Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Fine...
the stripes will be bold...

What are YOU working on?

summer fog...

a chilly fog rolled in last night...

and here it sits over my "backyard"...

sweater weather...in July?
yup!
it's typical here on the Mendocino coast...

now you know why I call this my
"summer fog" sweater

it is really the perfect thing to throw on when the coastal fog rolls in...

colorful, warm, oversized,
and ideal for the beach
on a grey summer's day!

another monday morning...

the big M.U.S.E. fundraiser is over...

now it is time to get back to knitting...so many ideas swirling around in this tangled brain!

...testing will begin soon for my next pattern...

...a baby sweater...
one that you have seen on this blog before, perhaps?

short-sleeved hoodie, perfect for our foggy coastal summers...

best part about it?
no seams to sew!

purpyle...

the big purple design question has finally been answered...

my son's purple sweater will be a v-neck cardigan with set-in sleeves, black 1x1 rib trim, zip-front, and black argyles...

and the occasional white argyle thrown in just because...

a hip-cool variation of a classic

digression...

.....

this tangled knitter often wanders from the path on which she started...

a few days ago, i began the process of knitting a purple sweater for my son...

but several swatches
and dozens of sketches later,
a big purple ? still remains...

so...

i started a sweater for myself in the lovely grey alpaca i found several months ago in a charity shop...

in the round, on 150 stitches, it is the perfect mindless knitting project for basketball season (2 games = 8 inches)...

let the sweater begin...

my son wants a sweater...a purple cardigan that zips up the front...it must be wool, not too heavy...

and...

one must keep in mind...he is a university student...

so...

let the sweater begin...
