“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”--Martin Luther King, Jr.

It's a fake quote.

I don't know if this quote is fake or not, but I agree.
ReplyDeleteI don't rejoice in anyone's death. But if all terrorists dropped dead it wouldn't bother me one bit.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Silvia M.--the quote is not entirely attributable to MLK Jr... It does express my views, however...murder is not a thing over which we should rejoice, no matter how "right" it may seem...
ReplyDeleteThank you both for you comments...
I agree, if the tables were turned and it was a Muslim rejoicing in the death of a Christian leader we would all tsk our tongues and say for shame to be so horrible. My husband fought in that war and our family has never been the same and I for one still feel sorrow in the passing of someone's son/father/uncle/friend, regardless of misdeeds he was a person too.
